Accredited investor status is required for most private market offerings under SEC Regulation D. International investors may qualify under their local jurisdiction's equivalent standards.
Do I need to be an accredited investor?
For most offerings on Dhow, yes. US-based investors must meet the SEC's accredited investor definition: $200,000+ individual income ($300,000+ joint) in each of the last two years with reasonable expectation of the same, or $1M+ net worth excluding primary residence, or certain professional certifications (Series 7, 65, or 82). Some future offerings under Regulation A+ or Regulation CF may be open to non-accredited investors.
How do you verify accreditation and how long does it take?
We use third-party verification services that review documentation you provide. The process typically takes 2–5 business days. You can verify via income (tax returns or W-2s), net worth (brokerage or bank statements plus a signed letter), or professional credentials (FINRA license confirmation).
Can I invest through an LLC or trust?
Yes. Entities such as LLCs, trusts, family offices, and certain IRAs can invest through Dhow, provided the entity itself meets the accredited investor threshold. You will need to provide entity formation documents and verification of the qualifying criteria during onboarding.
Which countries and states are supported?
Dhow currently supports investors in the United States (all 50 states), the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and select additional jurisdictions. Investors from OFAC-sanctioned countries or regions subject to enhanced restrictions are not eligible.
If I'm not eligible, can I still join and access educational content?
Absolutely. Even if you don't currently meet accredited investor criteria, you can join the Dhow community for free. You'll get access to our educational guides, the Dhow Dispatch newsletter, and tools like the VC Returns Calculator and BDS Portfolio Checker.
Does being on the waitlist guarantee access to investments?
No. The waitlist is a first step to express interest. Access to specific investment opportunities depends on completing eligibility verification, KYC/AML checks, and the availability of allocations in each offering.
